Developing Young Mathematicians: Practical activities and ideas to support the development of Shape, Space and Measure through provision
Research has shown that there are strong links between young children’s spatial skills and their later mathematics achievement, particularly in their understanding of number. It is therefore critical that Shape, Space and Measure lies at the heart of our mathematics curriculum.
This session will explore how a high-quality learning environment, both indoors and outdoors, can naturally immerse children in opportunities to develop language skills and exploration of shape, space and measure that are meaningful, practical and inspiring!
