This bite-sized CPD session forms part of a wider series designed to support senior leaders in driving improvement, raising standards and strengthening early years practice. Each session maintains a strong focus on principled practice while aligning closely with current inspection priorities, with particular emphasis on child development, high-quality provision and effective leadership.
This session explores child development as the foundation for effective early years practice. It considers the importance of secure child development knowledge in shaping high-quality teaching, provision and curriculum decisions. Leaders will be supported to reflect on how effectively this understanding informs practice and contributes to positive outcomes for children, in line with Ofsted’s focus on curriculum intent, implementation and impact.
