Managing the Implementation of Continuous Provision in KS1

A Senior Leader’s Strategic Journey

Description

This five-part programme is designed to support senior leaders who are looking to implement a continuous provision approach in KS1 – taking you through the crucial strategic planning and preparation stage of the process.

Join us to explore the principles that underpin effective continuous provision and consider how to develop a clear vision, plan for the practicalities and lead a successful approach across your setting.

Shaping Your Vision

Gain clarity in the rationale for continuous provision in KS1, considering key challenges, perceptions and statutory implications. Reflect on the principles of high-quality infant education and begin to shape a clear, principled and shared vision for your school.

Planning the Practicalities

Craft what your continuous provision approach will look like in practice. Identify and unpick key considerations around timetabling, staffing, planning, resources and capturing evidence. Reflect on the practicalities of implementation and identify approaches that will work effectively within your own school context.

Designing the Learning Environment

Strengthen your knowledge of the core principles of continuous provision in KS1 and consider how to create an enabling learning environment. Secure your thinking and expectations for the organisation of spaces and resources and understand how effective provision can support children’s independence, engagement and learning.

Connecting Provision and Curriculum

Explore how continuous provision can connect meaningfully with the national curriculum. Consider the purpose of provision and how carefully planned routines, expectations and opportunities can enable children to revisit, apply and deepen their learning, securing progression over time.

Strengthening and Sustaining Practice

Finally, consider how to embed and strengthen continuous provision through effective monitoring and evaluation. Explore ways to measure impact, develop staff expertise and identify ongoing professional development and meaningful next steps.
