What's Love Got To Do With It?

Exploring a Loving Pedagogy with Guest Speaker Tamsin Grimmer

Description

A loving pedagogy is all about relationships between the adults and the children and the ethos of the setting and emphasises the importance of love, care and emotional development. It includes holding children in mind, wanting the best for them and deeply considering their needs, interests and capabilities.

Drawing upon neuroscience and attachment theory, Tamsin will explore the many advantages for children, parents and the educators when a setting adopts a loving pedagogy, and share inspiring ways in which we can successfully foster strong, compassionate relationships between educators and children within our everyday practice – resulting in children feeling loved, having a sense of belonging, listened to and feeling empowered - giving them a higher sense of wellbeing, which will, in turn, enable them to learn more effectively.

Tamsin Grimmer is an associate of Early Education, Principal Lecturer at Norland College and an Emotion Coaching Lead Practitioner for Emotion Coaching UK. She has a wealth of experience supporting Early Years Teachers and educators. She is passionate about young children’s learning and believes that all children deserve educators who are inspiring, dynamic, reflective and loving. Tamsin has a particular interest in nurturing children’s self-regulation, encouraging positive behaviour and promoting love and nurture in daily practice. Tamsin has written several books aimed at educators and is a true advocate for adopting a loving pedagogy.
