Rethinking Effective Teaching in KS1

Embedding & strengthening practice in KS1

Description

This KS1 course is designed to support teachers in Y1 & Y2 who are seeking to strengthen the impact of all aspects of learning; through provision, routines and the role of the adult.

Join us for either a full day face-to-face event, or as a programme of three 90min webinars, to review practice, deepen knowledge and gain practical ideas for strengthening the impact of child-led learning.

Focusing on the impact of children’s independent learning, the course explores:

Maximising Learning Opportunities

Start by considering how to embed curriculum links and deepen learning through incidental learning, classroom routines and procedures, as well as thinking about how to plan effective enhancements for provision.

Exploring the Role of the Adult

The course then reflects on the varied role of the adult as children work with provision, considering how to achieve a balance between adult-led and child-led learning, through responsive planning and timetabling.

Capturing Learning Within Continuous Provision

Finally, explore a range of strategies for encouraging children to record their learning when working with continuous provision; their ideas, plans and outcomes.  A wide range of examples will be used to inspire this aspect of practice.

Benefits:

  • Develop practical strategies to embed the KS1 curriculum into your environment

  • Refresh your knowledge of the adult role in KS1 practice, exploring the balance between adult-led and child-led learning

  • Explore different ways for children to evidence their independent learning
