Senior Leader Briefing - Late Autumn 2025
Providing School Leaders with clarity, advice & guidance to understand the implications of national issues & policy direction
Description
If you missed our November 2025 Senior Leader Briefing, you can ensure that you are fully informed of the autumn term initiatives from the DFE and Ofsted and the implications for those working and leading in the EYFS and KS1.
During this session we shone a spotlight on inclusion; the issue which many of the schools and settings we work with regularly ask for guidance on. We heard from Helen Mohatta, who has joined Early Excellence as an associate SEND Consultant. Helen is an experienced Early Years SEND consultant, trainer, and coach with over 20 years in education. Helen specialises in adaptive teaching, curriculum design, assessment, and in creating inclusive, empowering environments that help children with SEND flourish.
Helen guided us through the key messages relating to expectations around inclusion in the new Ofsted Inspection Framework and the associated Toolkits – offering practical ideas and strategies to ensure that schools and settings are successfully equipped to meet these.
As always, we also updated you on all the latest information from the DfE, as well as the Education Endowment Foundation. We also explored the key messages from the Children’s Commissioner’s latest report, a national census of school leaders which reveals deep concerns about children’s lives beyond the classroom, as schools struggle to fill gaps in support without the backing of wider services – and reflected on how the government is proposing to address the many issues raised.
Accessing this briefing will ensure that Senior Leaders in schools and settings, as well as LA and MAT colleagues who support schools, are fully informed on the latest national issues and policy direction.
The session provided at a strategic and practical level:
-
Opportunities to keep up to date with latest information relating to Early Years and KS1
-
Clarity on the new Ofsted expectations on Inclusion
-
Reflections on the recommendations from the Children’s Commissioner and implications for the sector
Audience
