Strategically Developing School Provision for 2-3yr olds

Understanding the Expectations and Implications for Leaders

Description

As schools increasingly expand their early years offer, leaders will want to offer high quality provision and be confident that statutory requirements are being fulfilled and that the learning and development needs of the children are being met.

Research shows that high quality early childhood education has a direct impact on the attainment of young children, particularly the most disadvantaged.  Leadership must ensure that practice, provision and pedagogy are developmentally appropriate for this age group to secure crucial foundations enabling future educational success.

Drawing on the latest evidence, this session for leaders will reflect on the challenges and opportunities of working with younger children; identify critical priorities, strategic guidance and practical solutions to support children to make the best possible start to their school learning journey.
