Develop Subject Leaders Knowledge of the EYFS
Curriculum Progression Right from the Start in the EYFS
Description
There is a clear expectation from the DfE and Ofsted that the curriculum starts at the beginning of a child’s journey in school. This has significant implications for all Subject Leaders responsible for curriculum design, the monitoring of curriculum implementation and the evaluation of the impact on children’s outcomes.
This twilight session will strengthen Subject Leader understanding of core principles of Early Years and how these are translated into practice, the curriculum and assessment.
There will be the opportunity for delegates to start to examine key aspects of the revised EYFS and consider how these connect to each aspect of the curriculum, giving practical strategies to support their leadership role when monitoring and evaluating their subject. Explore the relationship between teaching and child-initiated learning across the curriculum and consider key issues around progression and depth of understanding – considering how skills, knowledge and understanding can be woven successfully throughout each child’s whole school learning journey, building on truly secure foundations.
